Chapter 5…..

Meanwhile Back at PDX Airport the Ball of light was still hovering above runway 12. It was motionless, made absolutely no sound. Inside the ball or what appeared to be a ball was a very slick looking space ship. If the glowing light that surrounded it was turned off you would be able to see a white torpedo shaped hull with Black Bold letters in the middle that read…” Jupiter Expedition 11”. Above and below the lettering were round porthole style windows that appeared to be for passengers to look out. It sort of looked like an airplane without wings. At the nose of the craft was a large square window much like the cockpit of our airplanes, it was surrounded by flashing red and blue lights, where they the space police?

The Nose of the ship was pointed in the direction of the control tower. Sitting in the pilot seats behind the Square window were 2 space men dressed in blue jump suits much like what our fighter pilots wear here. They looked like humans, actually very much like us. Hey I always thought space aliens looked like big white headed, bug eyed, reptile looking things, not these ones. No, they looked just like you and me. Ok, not exactly, that would be freaky!

They had been sent to Planet 17 (earth) to drop of a special Package that was part of a secret Hush, Hush inter space Galaxy science project. They had no idea what was in it, they just obeyed orders.

‘Oddball’ called so because of his quirky sense of humor who was sitting in the left seat was the first to speak as they sat watching Bill , John and the crew of air traffic control.

“This is so much fun, I always like first contact it’s the funniest waiting game ever, and that human with the name tag ‘Bill’ looks like that homeless human we picked up in Arizona and just as scruffy”

“Yes, he sure does, boy they sure eat some bad food on this planet not like our vegetarian diet back on Jupiter” said Rex, Oddball`s trusty second in command and lifelong friend.

“You know oddball we really should not be doing this, remember what the supreme commander said before we left on this mission. Just fly to planet 17 in sector 12 (Earth) drop the package and return home, and what did you do? pick up some scruffy looking homeless Human named ‘Wade’ in Arizona who was quite happily minding his P`s and Q`s I might add, and now we are at this airport freaking out the locals”

“Speaking of our new passenger is he still asleep in the pod”

“Yes, he sure is I can see him on the cargo monitor. I gave him the special sleeping pill so he will not remember where he has been or what happened”

“Good! Would not want Wade telling his friends all about us”

Just then they were interrupted by the voice of the ‘STATION 7’ mission control operator back on Planet Jupiter coming over their radio.

“Jupiter Expedition 11... Please make contact with Station seven... we have an urgent message for Oddball over”

Rex and Oddball looked at each other with that look kids give their Moms when they get caught with their hands in the Cookie Jar!

“Told you they would find out about your space pranks someday Oddball, now we are going to get it”

“Relax they have no way of knowing, we are light years away, besides these humans don’t even know we exist, even if they did! How could they contact our Planet? Be cool I have this; you have nothing to worry about.”

Oddball keyed his microphone responding with his usual coolness

“Jupiter Base seven, this is Jupiter Expedition eleven Oddball speaking “

“Oddball this is Darien, Hey Buddy your wife is in labor sooner than expected, you have the base commander’s permission to come home early, so drop the package at planet 17 at the secret location and come home ASAP”

“Wow Darien! Thanks pal, that’s great news, will do Oddball over and out”

“Ok Rex you heard Darien, Let’s drop the special package and exit this Planet I am going to be a Dad yippee‼!”

“Wait aren’t you forgetting our Homeless passenger Wade from Arizona”

“Oooops, well we don’t have time to take him back to the desert, wait here while I go back to the Cargo hold and fix this”

Oddball grabbed a writing tool , some space travel cargo Tags and headed to the hold, moments later he returned, slipped into his seat Grinning from ear to ear.

“What did you do “said Rex with a worried look although he knew some how Oddball would fix it.

Just then they heard a loud Roar as Randy flew over head in his jet.

Oddball switched on the space vehicle scanner to see what was inside the jet.

“Hey Rex it’s that crazy Human ‘Randy’ the fighter Pilot who chased us last time… Well at least this time they will believe him Hahaha….mmmmmm… this is going to be fun, watch and learn my fearful friend, boy I love this cat and mouse game”

(Yes they have cats and mice on Jupiter too although I’m told they are much bigger, must be because they eat healthy food?)

Back in the control tower all eyes were still fixed on the ball of light, Randy had just arrived over head to inspect it. Suddenly movement was spotted underneath the ship. A bright blue beam of light about 20 feet wide shone down onto the runway for about 10 seconds then it was gone, in its place on the ground was a large bright yellow plastic looking Pod thing about 10 feet long, 4 feet wide by 4 feet high. Seconds later the Ball of light rose about 100 feet of the runway and shot like a bullet into the night sky in the direction of Vancouver Washington and after it went Randy full throttle jet engines screaming.
